Studies show that Americans have a low awareness of what the Affordable Care Act does and are more familiar with the contentious politics surrounding the law. A recent New York Times story reported from Michigan focused on the challenge of promoting new coverage options and federal subsidies the law will make available to the nation’s uninsured, many of whom may have never had coverage and have little understanding of how the health care system works, much less the ACA.
Because health care reform is complicated, Blue Cross has launched a new website, healthcarereformbasics.com, that aims to make it simple for consumers. We’re not selling insurance on the site, just answering basic questions, such as:
- Why do we need health care reform?
- What is health care reform?
- How much is this going to cost you?
- And when will this impact you?
