Defining the Health Insurance Marketplace

The Health Insurance Marketplace is just one of the resources available to purchase health care coverage, beginning in October 2013.  The Health Insurance Marketplace is the only place for individuals to receive tax credits and cost-share help from the government.

The Health Insurance Marketplace allows people to view and compare multiple plans from many different companies at the same time.  Plans will be offered in four metal different levels:  bronze, silver, gold and platinum.  Each level will have a different amount of coverage and all plans within that level must offer a similar amount of coverage, making it simpler to pick the right plan for individual needs.

The Health Insurance Marketplace allows everyone to have access to the same information, making it easier to compare and understand.
