Mark your calendars! Let’s Talk Health Week kicks off soon in Grand Rapids

For the third year in a row, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and partnering community organizations present Let’s Talk Health Week from June 9-14 in Grand Rapids. Let’s Talk Health Week will host activities in West Michigan to emphasize the importance of healthy lifestyles, highlight prevention and encourage physical activity. Let’s Talk Health Week is a continuation of BCBSM’s commitment to improving the health of Michigan’s residents by bringing local leaders, advocates, agencies and members of faith-based organizations together to discuss health disparities that affect African-American and Latino communities, while encouraging prevention.

The week of events, include:

Monday, June 9 |Faith in Wellness Luncheon 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Kroc Center

Discussion at the Faith in Wellness Luncheon will cover the role of the faith community in the changing face of health care. Reservations are required to attend the luncheon. If interested in attending, RSVP to Cle Jackson, cjackson5@bcbsm.com

Tuesday, June 10 Let’s Talk Health: Youth Prevention Dinner 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Kroc Center

Wednesday, June 11 Let’s Talk Health Community Dance Competition 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. New Hope Baptist Church

Friday, June 13 Real Men Cook & Eat Healthy Cooking Contest 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Baxter Community Center

Register your healthy dish and show off your cooking skills in this friendly competition. Send the Real Men Cook and Eat Healthy Registration to cjackson5@bcbsm.com no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, June 6. Participants must attend the Cooking Matters class on Wednesday, June 11, in order to qualify for this competition.
