Each Friday night during the summer, local bands are featured in downtown Plymouth's Kellogg Park as part of the 'Music in the Air' concert series. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is excited to be the presenting sponsor of the Plymouth concert series for the eighth consecutive year. This family-friendly series is free and open to the public.
The 2014 schedule features a variety of music genres, including covers of the oldies, country and even some original bands. To get a feel for the music ahead of time, you can view videos of each band online.
“This concert series is something that people expect every year,” said Tony Bruscato, director of operations for the Plymouth Downtown Development Authority. “It started as a band on a street corner and has grown to hundreds of people. They’re looking for that experience of having a great Friday night with no cost.”
At most concerts, Blue Cross representatives can be found interacting with the crowd and promoting fun, interactive games that encourage healthy habits for both kids and their families. Concert goers that stop by the Blue Cross tent also have a chance to receive free giveaway items.
“Blue Cross is involved in communities across the state,” said Andy Hetzel, vice president of Corporate Communications for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. “We focused on matching the needs of the community with our organizations ability to contribute, enhance and improve the quality of life for people who live in Michigan.”
Concerts are held each Friday from May 23 to Aug. 29. Plymouth offers a variety of restaurants, ice cream parlors, candy shops and boutiques that help create an enjoyable weekend night.
