BCBSM Issues Statement on the Retirement of MDCH Director Jim Haveman

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan today issued the following statement honoring the many accomplishments of retiring Department of Community Health Director Jim Haveman: “Director Haveman has been a tireless advocate, never failing to meet the Department’s mission of protecting, preserving and promoting the health and safety of the people of Michigan,” said Daniel J. Loepp, BCBSM president and CEO. “Under Jim’s leadership, the state has shown improvements to overall health and has greatly decreased the number of uninsured citizens throughout the state. We wish Jim the best in his retirement and extend a heartfelt thank you for all he has accomplished for our great state.” Loepp also noted the following about the appointment of new Director Nick Lyon: “As we wish Jim the best, we feel confident about the direction the Department will head under the very able leadership of Nick Lyon. Through his work on the flawless roll out of the Healthy Michigan Plan, BCBSM is confident in his ability to hit the ground running. We look forward to working together on our shared goals of increasing access to health care, enhancing the quality of care patients receive, and improving the health of Michigan’s citizens and communities.”
