Can you stay healthy during the holidays? With a calendar full of social obligations, pressure to create lasting family memories, and the temptations of less-than-healthy treats everywhere, it’s not easy. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try! The December airing of the Healthier Michigan Radio Show discussed several facets of how to strive for a healthy holiday season. Host Ann Thomas spoke with:
  • Rosalva Osorio, clinical director of General Behavioral Health at The Children’s Center of Wayne County, who provided an overview of The Children’s Center and talked about the mental health services offered for children and families.
  • Angela Tzelepis, director of psychological and clinical training at The Children’s Center of Wayne County, about autism services offered at The Children’s Center and how to make the holidays easier for children with autism. Read some of Tzelepis's tips and about how one Michigan mom helps her boys through the season here.
  • Tanya Martin, clinical psychologist, about how the holidays can mentally be a difficult time for some people. Dr. Martin also offered suggestions for those who are stressed, anxious or depressed.
  • Cindy Bjorkquist, director of Health and Wellness Programs at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, about tips for healthy eating and ways to include exercise during the holidays.
