Being a 34 year employee of BCBSM, I have been somewhat reluctant to voice my opinion on how outdated the fee for service payment mechanism has become. I am happy to see that the Blues are once again leading the way in developing new and innovative approches to health care reimbursement.

I walk 30 minutes daily or do water aerobics and I’ve dropped 18 pounds and all my labwork has improved. I use a pedometer to track my progress.

Your WEBSITE http://www.BCBSM.com is getting more useful now that I can actually see on line the CLAIM STATUS ……but since you added that feature you took one away and that was for the DENTAL CHARGES claims status ……the Dental charges feature disappeared after 2012…… I am wondering when will you add the Dental chages back to your website ALONG WITH THE MEDICAL CLAIM STATUS ????

This a great promgan, two BC/BS employee were approved membership / join the 58 unit cooperative in downtown Detroit. We are in walking distance from the riverfront, all ball parks, banks and lots more. Next open house is March 23, 2013 from 11:00am until 3:00pm.

Mary, the answer is no. Under national health care reform requirements, employers with fewer than 50 eligible employees do not have to provide insurance, but if they do they may be eligible for tax credits through SHOP marketplace (an online marketplace for small business). Employers with more than 50 eligible have to provide coverage and meet certain guidelines – or if they do not meet the requirements they will be assessed a financial penalty. My dad smoked for 50 years. The doc who cleared his carotid artery would not do it unless he stopped smoking, but at that time he was 65 and the docs felt it would be too dangerous to clear his leg arteries – painful for the next 16 years! Young people need to know the damage smoking can do to them!
