As you know we at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan are proudly participating in the upcoming National Youth Enrollment Day this Saturday, Feb. 15th. We wanted to share an update for those of you planning to enroll. A scheduled SSA (Social Security Administration) maintenance went into effect today. This scheduled maintenance will run through Tuesday, Feb. 18th ending at 5 a.m. EST. During this time SSA and IRS verification services will be unavailable. This shutdown will not affect enrollment and you will still be able to enroll for coverage during the shutdown. Subsidy verification will be the only thing affected during this 62 hour period. We encourage you to use our subsidy estimator to see if you may be eligible. You will still have to go to HealthCare.gov to receive your subsidy verification. Even if you are not eligible you can still enroll and complete your application on our National Youth Enrollment Day portal. We look forward to helping you with your health care questions this Saturday, Feb 15th.
