Three Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan employees took first or second place in the Toastmasters’ Area Competition last week. Toastmasters can compete in two categories: International Speech and Evaluation. BCBSM held a club contest in January to select representatives to compete in the Area Competition. Sheryl Johnson-Fambro, Crystal Farmer and Kristie Stocker were nominated to advance. All three of these ladies placed in the Area Competition:
  • In the Evaluation category, first place went to Sheryl Johnson-Fambro and second went to Crystal Farmer.
  • In the International Speech category, first place went to Kristie Stocker and second went to Crystal Farmer.
Sheryl, Crystal and Kristie will next compete in the Division Competition, scheduled for this Saturday, March 29 at the Detroit Main Public Library auditorium on 5201 Woodward Ave. Doors open at 10 a.m. The competition is open to the public and admission and parking is free. Toastmasters International helps members improve their communication, public speaking and leadership skills through more than 10,000 clubs worldwide. Blue Cross’ Toastmasters Club falls in District 28 with over 100 other clubs in Southeast Michigan, Northwest Ohio and Southwest Ontario.
