Today, Michigan’s Insurance Commissioner provided direction on how the state would interpret March’s announcement by the Obama Administration regarding the extension of non-complaint ACA plans. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan issued the following statement on the decision: “Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is reviewing the Insurance Commissioner’s guidance regarding the extension of non-compliant plans, and we will need to determine the affects of keeping or not keeping these plans open in both the individual and small group market,” said Andrew Hetzel, vice president for Corporate Communications at BCBSM. “We are going to take a thorough look at our options as a business, how our customers and agent partners may be impacted, and communicate a decision once we’ve determined a course of action that is most appropriate given all the complex factors involved.”
