Nov. 1, 2016, marks the beginning of the 2017 Open Enrollment Period (OEP). This is the window when individuals and families can enroll in a new health plan or renew their coverage for next year. While open enrollment runs through Jan. 31, 2017, you need to enroll before Dec. 19, 2016 for your coverage to begin on Jan.1, 2017. If you don’t enroll in a plan by the end of OEP, and you don’t have other coverage, you might get hit with a fine.
