Blue Care Network Expands Local Network Medicare Offerings for Michigan Seniors in 11 Counties

DETROIT, Nov. 10, 2016—Blue Care Network of Michigan is expanding its local network product offerings for Medicare-eligible individuals with the development expansion of BCN AdvantageSM HMO ConnectedCare and development of BCN AdvantageSM HMO HealthySaver, both plans with the doctors and hospitals of Together Health Network, formed by Ascension Health Michigan and Trinity Health in Southeast Michigan and Kalamazoo County. The two affordably-priced plans will be available in 11 Michigan counties, including Arenac, Genesee, Iosco, Kalamazoo, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Saginaw, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne. Both BCN Advantage ConnectedCare and BCN Advantage HealthySaver combine Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B benefits, in addition to Part D drug coverage that helps protect against unexpected pharmacy costs. Both plans offer a low monthly premium, $0 medical deductible and fitness membership. With more than 4,500 doctors and specialists and 19 hospitals in the network, each plan offers access to a wide variety of providers within the local area. “We have a tremendous partner in BCN Advantage ConnectedCare and BCN Advantage HealthySaver that has enabled Blue Care Network to deliver a very competitively priced product to the over-65 population seeking affordable, quality health care,” said Julie Smith, senior vice president of Senior Health Services at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. “Over the past couple years, we’ve seen more people willing to trade broad network access for a quality, local network and a lower-cost insurance premium. Blue Cross’ Medicare Part D prescription drug plan, Prescription BlueSM PDP, was also ranked #1 in the state in the annual feature. In addition, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently ranked Blue Cross and Blue Care Network best in the country in its 2015 Part C and Part D Program Audit and Enforcement report.
