Your Business Can Help in the Fight Against Diabetes. Learn How at Our Free Webinar
A healthy, productive workforce is one of your business’ greatest assets. Healthy employees are more engaged, take fewer sick days and work more efficiently. However, with adult obesity rates up six percent between 2007 and 2016, keeping your employees healthy is becoming harder than ever. Obesity increases risk factors for many diseases, including type 2 diabetes, which has emerged as one of the most prevalent, expensive health conditions for U.S. employers. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is committed to helping employers reduce the impact of type 2 diabetes, hosting the free, hour-long webinar “Diabetes: Escalating the Fight in a Growing Epidemic” on Wednesday, August 29 at noon.
Register to view this webinar by visiting the Master Class website today. Led by medical experts Aaron Friedkin, MD, Michael Kobernick, MD, and Grace Derocha, RD, CDE, viewers will hear clinical insights about diabetes, information on how the disease impacts businesses’ costs, and valuable tips on how to partner with your employees to keep them healthy. During the broadcast, employers will be educated on the role they can play in helping employees prevent the onset of diabetes and better manage the disease. The webinar will also touch on proactive steps you can take to positively impact your business’ bottom line. More than 100 million Americans are currently living with diabetes or prediabetes. 30.3 million Americans, or 9.4 percent of the population, have diabetes while 84.1 million are managing prediabetes. Even more, 90 percent of people with prediabetes, and 24 percent of those with diabetes, don’t know they have it. However, the tables can be turned on this disease through physical activity, weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. That’s where you come in: Business owners have the opportunity to be on the front line of efforts to tackle this epidemic through employee education and offering of health care coverage and resources that promote total health. This course is certified by the Human Resources Certification Institute® for continuing education credit and has been approved for 1 HR recertification credit hour through HR Certification Institute®.
