Not only is Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan committed to a diverse workforce and leadership, we’re also invested in contracting with a diverse group of suppliers. Our supplier diversity program boasts close to 200 diverse suppliers, and we celebrate these diverse suppliers annually at our Supplier Diversity Achievement Awards. The theme for this year’s awards, held on March 13, was Strengthening Our Business Through Supplier Diversity. With more than 250 people in attendance from various supplier organizations, President and CEO Daniel J. Loepp shared his appreciation and congratulations to the suppliers that have changed the way Blue Cross does business. “Our diverse suppliers — and the many people in our company who work to make our supplier diversity program successful — have helped Blue Cross to be a force for positive change,” Loepp said. “We know that the strength of our company — and our service to more than 5.4 million lives — is built by the work we do together.” In 2018, Blue Cross spent more than $185 million with minority and women-owned businesses and in the last five years, we’ve spent $1.1 billion through our supplier diversity program.
