On June 17, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies across the nation joined in a pledge to stand united against racism, hate and discrimination. Read the full pledge and our commitments to action here.
From Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan President and CEO, Daniel J. Loepp: As I recently shared, the pandemic has made clear painful inequities that still exist in our society. Systemic racial bias and inequality continue to plague the United States. At Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, diversity and inclusion are a cornerstone of our company culture, and we’ve long been committed to addressing disparities impacting our communities across Michigan. Within the last month, Blue Cross has taken several steps to demonstrate our continued commitment to diversity and inclusion. There is no going back. We will use this time of tragedy, turmoil and pain to renew our commitment to be both a voice for change and an active participant in community-centered efforts to acknowledge inequities and resolve them for the betterment of our world. To move forward, we commit to driving continued change through respect, tolerance and gaining diverse perspectives to better comprehend the different experiences of others. Each of us must become a voice for change.
