If 2020 derailed your health goals, it’s time to get back on track. Registration is now open for a free program that helps people kick-start their health goals for the new year. The 2021 Blue Cross Winter Warm Up is open to all ages and geared toward Michiganders who want to take the first step to improve their physical health and wellness. Previously open to Lansing-area residents, this year will feature virtual training components, meaning you can participate from wherever you are! Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network sponsor the program, which aims to help empower residents on a journey from a sedentary lifestyle to an active lifestyle. The eight-week program includes one weekly virtual training session, a daily workout calendar, weekly emails and access to a Facebook accountability group where you’ll receive additional information about training and nutrition. All virtual sessions will be conducted by Playmakers-certified Good Form Running and Good Form Walking coaches. Program participants work toward a common goal of completing a 5K walk or run by the end of the Blue Cross Winter Warm Up training program. The free Blue Cross Winter Warm Up 5K Walk/Run and celebration will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2021, at Hawk Island Park in Lansing. Training sessions begin Monday, Feb. 1.
