Winter Warm Up: Sign Up for Free, Virtual 5K Training Program
If 2020 derailed your health goals, it’s time to get back on track.
Registration is now open for a free program that helps people kick-start their health goals for the new year. The 2021 Blue Cross Winter Warm Up is open to all ages and geared toward Michiganders who want to take the first step to improve their physical health and wellness. Previously open to Lansing-area residents, this year will feature virtual training components, meaning you can participate from wherever you are!
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network sponsor the program, which aims to help empower residents on a journey from a sedentary lifestyle to an active lifestyle.
The eight-week program includes one weekly virtual training session, a daily workout calendar, weekly emails and access to a Facebook accountability group where you’ll receive additional information about training and nutrition. All virtual sessions will be conducted by Playmakers-certified Good Form Running and Good Form Walking coaches. Program participants work toward a common goal of completing a 5K walk or run by the end of the Blue Cross Winter Warm Up training program. The free Blue Cross Winter Warm Up 5K Walk/Run and celebration will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2021, at Hawk Island Park in Lansing.
Training sessions begin Monday, Feb. 1.

I’m trying to register this year to do the walk at Lansing Mall (Delta Township) when I click on that and then enter my waiver info, it indicates the Alive Center; and I believe that is because my address is Grand Ledge, but I don’t want to drive to Charlotte, when Lansing Mall is closer.
Hi, when I tried to register it said they already had an email on file. Also, is there more information about where the training sites will be?
Hi Gloria, Thanks for reaching out. To update your online profile, you can call 1-888-417-3479. You can also view the addresses for the training sessions here: http://miblues.co/2ieK5jr. Thanks, Taylar
confirmation that Couch to 5K in Delta Township will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays is requested.

If I sign up are you required to train at the same place each time or can I go to more than one place? Depending on my work schedule will depend what days I can train.

If you have any additional questions about the program, you can reach out to the program director at [email protected]. Hope this helps! -Taylar
The sign up says that my e-mail is already on file. When I tried to re-set my password to gain access, there was no e-mail to me with how to re-set. I even went to the “help” area and got the same message, to go to the password reset. Can you help me figure out what to do now?
Hi Terrie, We apologize for the trouble. We recommend you contact the program director at [email protected] to get the issue resolved. Hope this helps!
Interested. The one at Meridian Mall inside? I prefer inside. I live in old town
Thanks for your interest, Carmen! You can sign up here https://runsignup.com/Race/MI/GreaterLansing/2016WinterWarmUp. Good luck! – Taylar
Totally bummed…..I’ve been wanting to sign up for this for the last few years. Finally get the courage and the only one that is near me (Holt) is full. I even got the husband to sign up. 🙁
Since it’s already full, will there be a chance of opening up more spots?
Is there a waiting list, in the event someone drops out?
Please let us know….
Hi, We’re sorry to hear you were unable to sign up. You can reach out to The Playmakers Fitness Foundation contacts Alicia ([email protected]) or Cynthia ([email protected]) to see if more spots will become available. Hope this helps! -Taylar
