Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan offers Medicare Advantage premium decreases, adds new plan benefits for 2019 annual enrollment period

DETROIT, Oct. 22, 2018 – Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan will offer PPO, HMO-POS and HMO Medicare Advantage plans with maintained or reduced premiums and enhanced supplemental and pharmacy benefit options for the 2019 annual enrollment period.

“Blue Cross is excited to offer what we consider to be our ‘best-ever’ Medicare plans for the 2019 annual enrollment period,” said Krischa Winright, senior vice president of Business Performance and Development at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. “We’ve focused on providing more choices to fit every need, budget and preference, while also improving the level of affordability and value our Medicare members have come to rely on from their plans.”

All existing Blue Cross and Blue Care Network Medicare Advantage plan premiums will be maintained or reduced with the exception of Medicare Plus BlueSM PPO Assure and BCN AdvantageSM HMO MyChoice Wellness. Premium decreases will vary from approximately $10 to $50, depending on the plan and region. Improved benefits for select 2019 plans include a $250 increase in hearing-aid allowances, enhanced disease management programs and online visits for primary and behavioral health care. New, enhanced supplemental benefit options are available for select plans as well, offering increased dental, vision and hearing allowances for in- and out-of-network providers.

“Our new plan benefits and options, especially the addition of online visits, make it easy for Medicare members to access the care they need at home or on the go, when it’s needed most,” said Winright. “With a provider network spanning the country and the BlueCard® program, Blue Cross is committed to ensuring members are covered from coast to coast.”

In addition to the 12 individual Medicare Advantage plans and two prescription drug plans currently offered, Blue Cross will add a third, low-cost drug plan option for 2019, Prescription BlueSM PDP Select. This plan provides another coverage choice for members to save money with copays as low as $2 at preferred pharmacies and a very competitive monthly premium.
