Seniors have many options to choose from for their Medicare coverage, but just like shopping for a new car, it can be hard to understand how your coverage works. It can be confusing to balance your premiums, deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums with your needs. That’s why Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is sending experts to neighborhoods across the state to host free education events during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period.
With new plan offerings and more choices this year, it can be easy to get overwhelmed. If you or someone you know is turning 65 soon, or if you are looking to change Medicare plans, you may want to attend a learning event as part of your research.
Free learning events are designed to help seniors and caregivers understand how coverage works. Guests will also receive information about a range of plan options available to fit different health needs, lifestyles and budgets.
If you are new to Medicare, these seminars walk you through a step-by-step foundation for understanding Medicare, and then will review the range of plan choices available. You can also talk 1:1 with an expert so you can select a plan that makes sense for your individual health needs. If you already have a Medicare plan, attending a learning event can help you determine if your current plan is still the best fit.
Since the learning events are educational, you won’t need to bring any personal documents with you just yet. If you decide you want to enroll in a BCBSM-sponsored Medicare plan, you can make an appointment with a licensed agent.
BCBSM is hosting several free learning events through December 5 across Michigan in cities including Detroit, Grand Rapids, Marquette and Mount Pleasant.
This year, BCBSM tripled the number of Medicare learning events due to high interest. Pre-registration is preferred due to space limitations.
