Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network want you to get moving. This summer, we’re promoting fun, healthy events that people of all ages can enjoy. From 5K runs to 17-mile bike rides, participants will be able to challenge themselves both mentally and physically. It’s just one of the many ways BCBSM and BCN help to improve communities from the inside out. Upcoming Events/Dates:
  • Metro Way 5K Community Run- July 18: The Metro Health Center in Wyoming, MI is hosting a 5K and 10K run. Adults and children ages 3-12 are free to participate, making this a healthy and economical activity for the entire family.
  • Tour de TART- July 19: This event consists of an evening bike ride from Traverse City to Suttons Bay. The 17-mile route includes two food stops, local microbrews and wines, as well as a shuttle service for the return trip.
  • Michigan Senior Summer Olympics– Aug. 9-18: The Michigan Senior Summer Olympic Games offer competitions for individuals age 50 and up. There are a variety of activities including billiards, disc golf, cornhole, a 5K, 10K and much more.
  • India Day- Aug. 17: This Novi-based celebration honors India’s independence, culture, traditions and people. More than 25,000 are expected to attend and experience unique tastes, sights, sounds and shopping.
  • Senior Day at the Detroit Zoo– Sept. 4: Seniors age 62 and up from Oakland, Wayne and Macomb Counties are welcome with free admission to the Detroit Zoo. Senior Day features live entertainment, tram tours, bingo, zookeeper talks and a senior resource area.
  • Alpena Farmers Market’s Kids Day- Sept. 21: Kids Day at the Alpena Farmer’s Market is full of family-friendly activities. Little ones can enjoy live music, hay rides, a petting zoo, pumpkin carving and cider making demonstrations. It’s a great way to keep the kids busy while supporting your local vendors.
