Why was this not more widely publicized? I think it would be absolutely fabulous!

Julie, I'm sorry I didn't see your response to my prior comment before posting this again! It appears communities or an organization would need to initiate at the local level bringing a BZ community to Michigan. It's great to hear BC/BS is interested and along with the State could help pave the way and incentivize communities to come on board which could provide costs savings to employers and customers alike.

I'm curious what the outcome was of this event? Has there been any follow up actions or discussions to move forward?

Hi Heather, Thanks for reading! Based on the presentation, it sounds like representatives from the Blue Zones organization have talked with several Michigan communities, but there’s been no movement yet to establish the model here based on their latest map. Although Blue Cross isn’t formally involved in efforts to bring a Blue Zone to Michigan, it’s an intriguing concept and we’re certainly supportive of evidence-based efforts to bring about positive health changes at a population level.

Hi Julie, Unfortunately I didn't attend the conference in June, but I've been an observer of Blue Zones for some time. What was the outcome of this topic at the event? Is BC/BS involved in any follow up activities, policy, advocacy or planning to bring to Michigan community? I'm surprised also to see no mention of the idea of BZ anywhere on DHHS website.
