Changes to Important Documents for Receiving and Understanding Health Benefits

We speak your language. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network have provided language translation services to members who speak little or no English for quite some time. And we will continue to offer communication assistance for persons with disabilities. When your employees receive a document about their benefits or coverage, they will see information about language assistance and an important notice. Why are communications changing? Affordable Care Act regulations require that health care companies make it easier for individuals and families to understand and obtain health benefits. What are the changes to documents?
- A nondiscrimination notice about civil rights has been added in 16 languages, including English, instructing members to call the number on the back of their Blue Cross or BCN ID card for language assistance.
Which documents will have this additional information? Electronic and print communications that members and prospective members use to learn about and enroll in health coverage will have this information. We strive for excellent customer experience.
