DETROIT, Nov. 10, 2016— Blue Care Network of Michigan is expanding its local network product offerings for Medicare-eligible individuals in West Michigan with the development of BCN AdvantageSM HMO HealthySaver and MyChoice Wellness plans with Mercy Health-affiliated doctors. The two affordably-priced plans will be available in four Michigan counties: Kent, Muskegon, Oceana and Ottawa. Both BCN Advantage HealthySaver and MyChoice Wellness plans combine Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B benefits into one complete package, in addition to Part D drug coverage that helps protect against unexpected pharmacy costs. Both plans offer a low monthly premium, a $0 medical deductible and the SilverSneakers® Fitness program, in addition to other benefits. With more than 1,300 doctors and specialists and four hospitals in the network, each plan offers access to a wide variety of providers within the local area. “We have valued partners in both BCN Advantage HealthySaver and MyChoice Wellness plans that allow Blue Care Network to deliver a very competitively priced product to the over-65 population seeking affordable, quality health care,” said Julie Smith, senior vice president of Senior Health Services at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. “Many people seek the majority of their care close to home, so we’ve seen more and more seniors looking to trade broad network access for a quality, local network and a lower-cost insurance premium. Our local network plans allow us to offer these choices and we applaud Mercy Health-affiliated doctors for their participation in these new, affordable health insurance options for Michigan consumers.” Blue Care Network was named one of the two top-ranked Medicare Advantage plans in Michigan for 2017, according to U.S. News & World Report.* Blue Cross’ Medicare Part D prescription drug plan, Prescription BlueSM PDP, was also ranked #1 in the state in the annual feature. In addition, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently ranked Blue Cross and Blue Care Network best in the country in its 2015 Part C and Part D Program Audit and Enforcement report.
