Who's responsible for high health care cost?
Who is responsible for the high cost of health care? It’s a simple question with no easy answer.
Blue Cross asked people what they thought, and we got some insightful opinions. Some say it’s because of regulation and politics. Others say it’s because of health insurers, or doctors, or hospitals, or drug companies.
Still others pointed to corporate greed and inequities of health care access among income levels. But there’s one point that came through loud and clear – health care is not affordable.
Health care affordability effects consumers, employers, providers and even health insurers. Everyone wants health care to be less costly. And we want safe, compassionate, high-quality care.
Who is responsible for the high cost of health care? We all play a part. And together, we can fix it. We believe it can be done. We believe our members should be able to get the care they need, at the right time, in the right setting, and without financial barriers. It will take all health care stakeholders to come together to solve this affordability crisis. So, let’s do this.
